George Weston Foods are investing another $92 million to expand their operations across Victoria.
The investment will expand the scope of the new Mauri flour mill in Ballarat to include a warehouse and production facility. The mill is under construction in the Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ) and is set to open later this year.
We've supported the company’s long-term investment in the state. It will also deliver future upgrades throughout the George Weston Foods network in Victoria, including its Tip Top bakery operations.
As one of the state’s largest agrifood sector employers, George Weston Foods has more than 3,000 staff across its Victorian sites with half employed in regional Victoria.
The sites include:
Port Melbourne
North Melbourne
Dandenong
Bendigo
Castlemaine.
The company’s iconic brands include:
Tip Top
Don KRC
Mauri
Jasol
Noisette
Yumi’s
.
BWEZ is fast becoming Ballarat's hub for jobs and economic growth. It will unlock more than 400 hectares of industrial land over two decades.
The new mill will have 47 jobs associated with the site, on top of the hundreds created through other investments.
Victoria is Australia's largest food and beverage manufacturer. The industry is valued at $47 billion and employs more than 78,000 people.
