76 King Street is a biennial scholarly journal published by Liberty Hall: The Legacy of Marcus Garvey under the auspices of the Friends of Liberty Hall (Marcus Garvey) Foundation.
First Publication Date?
The first volume of the 76 King Street journal was published in 2009.
Who is it dedicated to?
The journal is dedicated to the study of Marcus Garvey’s life, work and philosophy, and the history, culture and current affairs of Africa and the African Diaspora.
Who makes up our readership?
Our readership is made up of activists, historians, academics, Pan-Africanists, and scholars in Black Studies that are primarily based in the Caribbean, United Kingdom, United States of America, Nigeria, and South Africa.
Where can you purchase?
You can buy all volumes at the Liberty Hall BookFusion store. Volumes 3-5 are available at the Marcus Mosiah Garvey Multimedia Museum Gift Shop on King Street, Kingston, the Institute of Jamaica’s Giftshop, and The UWI Bookshop on The UWI Mona campus.
you Can contribute?
All volumes are thematic but we welcome biographical notes on Garveyites, articles, book reviews, reviews of Afro themed exhibitions, and literary texts related to the study of Garvey, Pan-Africanism and the history, culture, and current affairs of Africa and the Diaspora. Submissions must include an abstract and 100 word biographic note.
Why August For Publication Month?
Publication of the journal form a part of the commemorative event for the anniversary of the birth of the Rt. Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey.

Multimedia Museum (MMGMM)
The MMGMM is the world’s first museum on Garvey. Through the technology of interactive touch-screens, visitors experience Garvey’s life, work, and philosophy in the exhibition:
Marcus Garvey: The Movement and the Philosophy
. Films on Garvey, Black Self identity and Africa are shown in two locations, and wallpaper chronicles the major events in Garvey’s life with breath taking historical images.

Services & Programmes Offered
Garvey Computer Centre
The Garvey Multimedia Computer Centre provides computer access to residents of the surrounding inner-city communicates at a nominal fee. The space is also used by the Adult Computer Literacy Programme and the After School Programme students.

The Garvey Great Hall, located on the second floor of Liberty Hall is a multi-functional space that offers a panoramic view of Downtown, Kingston. It is a venue for public functions such as the lectures, symposia, and cultural events; this is where LH’s dance, drama, and music aspect of the Outreach Programmes are held.
Adult Computer Literacy Programme (ACLP)
Through an 18 weeks Adult Computer Literacy Programme (ACLP), adults of all ages are provided with rudiments of computer technology. Classes are held on weekdays between 9:00 am and 12:00pm; one on one consultation is held from 1:00 -2:00 pm. At the end of the program students are given a certificate.
Educational Outreach Programmes
Liberty Hall’s Educational Outreach is designed according to the needs of children between ages 7 and 17 years from surrounding inner-city communities and is carried out after school, Monday to Friday between the hours of 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. All aspects of the programme incorporate the philosophy and opinions of Marcus Garvey.
The Garvey After-School Programme
The Garvey After-School Programme operates during the school terms on weekdays and helps to develop literacy, creative, and library skills as well as provides homework assistance. The programmes also incorporate dance, Capoeira, drama, art, music, reading, chess, and story-telling activities.
The Summer Arts Programme
The Summer Arts Programme takes place every year from July to August. It provides a safe place for children during the holidays, while encouraging them to express themselves through art. Over the years the children have produced spectacular works in painting, ceramic, fabric design and the performing arts.

The Garvey Research/Reference Library is a specialized library that houses approximately 10,000 holdings, inclusive of books, pamphlets and audio visual materials relating to Marcus Garvey, the Garvey Movement, Pan-Africanism and the history and culture of Africa and the African Diaspora.
