Texas A&M University has once again earned top honors in the latest Wall Street Journal rankings, securing the No. 1 spot among public universities in Texas, No. 1 in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), and placing No. 12 nationally among public institutions.
This marks the third year in a row that Texas A&M has been recognized as the leading public university in the state, underscoring its continued commitment to academic excellence, student outcomes and value.
The WSJ/College Pulse 2026 Best Colleges in the U.S. ranking evaluates institutions based on a combination of student experience, career preparation, learning environment and return on investment. Texas A&M’s strong performance across these categories reflects its mission to provide a world-class education while remaining accessible and affordable.
“Placing best in Texas and among the nation’s leading public universities is a badge of honor because it means we’re being recognized not just for our academic and research strengths, but also for the opportunities we create for students to thrive during and after their time at Texas A&M,” said Dr. Alan Sams, executive vice president and provost. “It is part of our mission to ensure high-quality education that is accessible and leads to employment after graduation.”
This recognition follows another strong showing in the
U.S. News & World Report 2025-26 rankings
, where Texas A&M was named No. 3 among all public universities and No. 1 in Texas in a category that evaluates how well universities support students in their transition to college life. The university was specifically recognized for its excellence in first-year experience and study abroad, as well as Top 10 rankings across engineering and business.
In addition, A&M has surged to the No. 2 spot for most visible public universities and No. 8 among all U.S. institutions, according to
American Caldwell’s 2025–2026 Global University Visibility (GUV) Rankings
,up six places in one year, surpassing UCLA, Arizona State, Michigan and UC Berkeley. The university also jumped from No. 21 to No. 13 worldwide, the largest leap among the Top 15. Texas A&M University remains the most visible university in Texas, as well as the SEC. The GUV Rankings evaluate the brand strength and prominence of 1,000 universities worldwide, drawing on data points including news coverage, social media engagement, search engine activity, YouTube viewership and website traffic to determine the world’s most visible and resonant university brands.
