Anushakti Nagar (BARC Colony) is one of the residential townships of the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India in Mumbai.
It is the residential complex for the employees of Department of Atomic Energy. It has residential flats, local grocery shops, sports and recreation
facilities, schools, Creche, playgrounds, medical clinics, a large hospital, bank, post office and transport links to many parts of Mumbai.
Anushakti Nagar is a well planned self-contained community with a population of about 45,000.
The complex is sprawling and lies stretched out alongside four suburbs - Govandi, Mankhurd, New Mandala and Trombay with the abundant green
natural environment. Hills, lakes, flowers, Trees, etc. add more natural feeling to the campus.
Anushakti Nagar people celebrates almost all the festivals that are celebrated across the country such as, Holi, Diwali, Durga Puja, Dussehra, Oname,
Gudi padwa, Pongal, Ganesh Utsav, Dhai Handi, Id, Christmas Day, Independence day, Republic day and the list goes on.
These festivals bring wonderful enthusiasm and energy among each other, which creates a friendly bonding, a unity in team spirit and great opportunity
in network building as well as socio-cultural interaction and harmony among the culturally diverse people.
BARC provides excellent infrastructure facilities and some of these facilities are:
Township of DAE
Anushakti nagar and other localities
Anushakti Nagar is one of the residential Township of the Department of Atomic Energy. It is the residential complex consisting of about 9500 flats for the employees of Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India in Mumbai. It has residential flats, local grocery shops, sports and recreation facilities, schools, medical clinics, a large hospital, bank, post office and transport links to many parts of Mumbai.
As soon as you join BARC Training School for your orientation course, you will be provided Hostel Accommodation on sharing basis.
After passing out from Training School, you can opt for Bachelor Hostel on sharing basis for a period of one year.
As a fresh graduate after staying in Bachelor Hostel, will be entitled for semi-furnished
(1HK) Transit accommodation Nilgiri (Efficiency category) and later will be shifted to semi-furnished (2BHK) buildings like Akash Ganga,
Akash Ratana and Akash Deep all again Transit accommodation (Efficiency Plus category). All allotments are passed upon the priority
list against vacant flats in those categories.
Later entitled for semi-furnished and spacious accommodation depending upon your eligibility criteria ( pay grade) in DAE residential
complex area of Anushakti Nagar, Kenilworth, Anand Bhavan, Atomica, Chembur, Ghatkopar, Wadhwali, Mistry Nagar, Bandra, Colaba, Old Mandala,
Mandala, New Mandala and Western Sector. Highest pay grade buildings (E1) are Shanti Niketan and Shri Niketan. It has many high-rises
buildings and numerous other 4-5 storied buildings.
Medical Facilities
State-of-the-art Healthcare facilities
Healthcare facility is provided to the Employees of DAE and their dependant family members inside Mumbai.
This facility is provided under Contributory Health Services Scheme (CHSS). For this purpose a 390 bedded Multispeciality Hospital along with
13 zonal residential dispensaries inside Mumbai and 3 occupational health centers are functioning for providing the primary health care facility inside
Mumbai urban as well as sub-urban area and in Navi Mumbai. Primary Health Care is provided through these dispensaries.
While for secondary/tertiary care patients are being referred to BARC hospital.

Education Facilities
Excellent school facilities for children
The Atomic Energy Education Society (AEES) is an Autonomous Body, under the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India, which provides education for wards of the DAE employees' upto junior college level. Atomic Energy Central Schools and Junior Colleges are spread all across the country and are affiliated to CBSE and other boards. Excellent school facilities for children from pre-nursery (Pre-Preparatory) to Junior College are available. The medium of instruction is English.
A school for special children "Sausheelya" is also available at Anushakti Nagar.

Child Day Care Facilities
A home away from home
Excellent child day care facilities are available within the residential complex of Anushakti Nagar. Two child care crèches named as ARWA crèche and KILBIL are available, to children of DAE working couples.
KILBIL is a unique day care centre for 300 children consisting infants, toddler and school going. It takes to spacious playful outdoors, colourful charming indoors and above all blessed by Mother Nature. Here the children keep meeting Sea and Sky and books and toys again and again.
It aims at providing quality care based on modern, scientific and professional principles to children of the families of DAE employees where both parents are working. The objective is to make the Day Care Center a home away from home. Kilbil aims to provide a safe, secure and stimulating place for the children.
Sports and Fitness facilities
DAE Sports & Cultural Council and Clubs
Anushakti Nagar has very good sports facilities with many apartment complexes having their own grounds. It has a BARC Staff Club for indoor games like Badminton, Table-Tennis, Gym, Carom and Chess. It has one field each for Football, Cricket and Hockey, 9 floodlit Tennis Courts, 2 Basketball courts and 2 volleyball courts and a large number of badminton courts. There are vast playgrounds spread across the campus. It also has a Library, a few scattered basketball courts, volleyball facilities & a huge football field near the junior college.
DAE Sports & Cultural Council is another Club facility, organizing games like Badminton, tennis, Summer Coaching Camps for Children in Cricket, Table-tennis, Tennis, Dance etc. It has a Gymnasium, Billiards and Bridge games also. Various expeditions and trekking are arranged for DAE families.
Community Hall Facilities
Modern Community Halls facilities
Anushakti Nagar has very good and well planned self-contained community halls.
Two community centers name as Old community hall and new community Centre. The old community hall has been renovated to modern facilities with air conditioned banquette hall is now known as Shankuntalam.
Canteen Facilities & Food Corners
Food at a walking distance
Subsidized Canteens are located in the Anushakti Nagar Complex, New Bachelor Hostel and BARC Hospital.
Shopping facilities for your day-to-day use are available within walking distance at various locations spread across the township.
Vegetable and Fruits shops are also available across the township and arrangements for bi-weekly fresh Vegetable and Fruits shops in many building premises are available.
Post office, Banking and Transportation
Self sustained day-to-day facilities
There is a Post office in Anushakti Nagar (Pin code 400 094) Campus. Many Banks have their branch offices in the premises with ATMs.
Convenient transport links to & from parts of Mumbai/ Navi Mumbai are available. Local Three Wheeler/ Taxis are also available to go around the wide spread campus. Departmental transport facility for working employees of BARC is able available to and from various locations of Mumbai/ Navi Mumbai.
