$75,000 Grant for Chemistry & Biochemistry Research Equipment
Angelo State University’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the Houston-based Welch Foundation to purchase new equipment that will support student research, research training and education.

Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society Named Top Chapter in Texas
Angelo State University’s Epsilon Sigma chapter of the Beta Beta Beta (Tri-Beta) national biological honor society was named the Outstanding Chapter in District 2 for the 2025-26 academic year and also garnered several other prestigious awards while hosting the recent Tri-Beta South Central Regional Convention in Cedar Hill.

ASU Earns National Top 10 ‘Military Friendly® School’ Status
For the 17th time, Angelo State University has earned the “Military Friendly® School” designation from Victory Media (VIQTORY), which comprises several digital and print resources, including G.I. Jobs magazine, that serve military personnel and veterans transitioning into civilian life.

New Dean Appointed for ASU College of Science and Engineering
Dr. Chih-Chien “Linus” Yu, previously a professor of mathematics and the associate vice provost for academic excellence at the Oregon Institute of Technology, has been appointed as the new dean of Angelo State University’s College of Science and Engineering (COSE), effective June 1.

Music/Voice Student Wins Prestigious National Scholar Award
Jon Dirk Ross of San Angelo, a senior music/voice major at Angelo State University, has earned a 2025-26 Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award from the Presser Foundation in Philadelphia that includes a $3,000 scholarship and the title of Presser Scholar.

Representatives of Angelo State University’s student-run Ram Media outlets brought home 11 awards after competing in various contests at the recent Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) Convention in Denton.

The Angelo State University Handball Club won three individual national titles and placed fourth in the Combined Open standings at the recent 73rd U.S. Handball Association (USHA) National Collegiate Championships at the U.S. National Handball Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
