Middle School
Grades 5-8 & Course Guide

Small-by-Design, Close-Knit Environment
At every turn, The Pine School's Middle School is bustling with students who encounter engagement, empowerment, and excellence daily in Grades 5 - 8.
While Middle School has big goals and opportunities abound, at the core of its work is it's small-by-design, close-knit environment.  This sense of "family" assures students that they are seen, heard, supported, and valued by adults and peers alike as they navigate the ups and downs of adolescence.  Supported seamlessly from our Lower School program, and serving as the preparatory bridge to our Upper School program, students find opportunities at The Pine School to grow personally and discover their passions and talents.
Excellence is woven into every aspect of Middle School academic life. This includes students engaging in hands-on activities and lessons within and beyond the classroom walls.  From transforming a science classroom into an escape room to utilizing our expansive campus for an English lesson extension in wilderness training, our students make unique connections between the classroom and the world around them.Students are active participants in their own learning during a sequence of courses in English Language Arts, History, Mathematics, and Science.
Students begin to see their place in the world through school engagement and real-world skill building.  Middle Schoolers are encouraged to join an athletic sport, hone in on artistic skills through visual and instrumental arts, join a teacher-led club like The Green Team or Pickleball Club, or try a variety of elective courses.  Beyond the academic day, students have no shortage of opportunities to develop socially through school-sponsored semi-formal dances, socials, and movie "knights".
