Patients and Visitors - UnityPoint Health - Iowa Lutheran Hospital Patients and Visitors UnityPoint Health - Iowa Lutheran Hospital Visitor Guidelines At UnityPoint Health, we believe your support system is essential to your healing. These people are an important part of your care team, and we welcome visitors. Visiting Hours & Guidelines Visitors are welcome every day from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. To ensure a restful environment, we recommend up to two visitors at a time. Please note visitation may be limited to one person based on clinical needs. For safety, children under the age of 16 must always be accompanied by an adult visitor. For adult patients, one designated visitor may stay overnight at the patient's request. For pediatric patients, two parents, guardians or their designees are welcome to stay overnight to support a child in our care. Some departments, including behavioral health and hospice, may have specific visitation guidelines tailored to the unique safety and care needs of those patients. We always do our best to accommodate individual needs. Please understand our care teams may adjust these practices at any time to prioritize the health, safety, and privacy of our patients, families and team members. Hospital Information and Amenities Services & Amenities Dining Options Iowa Lutheran Cafeteria Family members and friends are invited to dine at Iowa Lutheran's cafeteria, located on level B. Monday through Friday Breakfast: 6 to 10:15 a.m. Lunch: 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dinner: 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Overnight: 2 to 4 a.m. (not available on weekends or holidays) Satruday and Sunday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vending Machine Locate on the first floor. Chapel and Spiritual Services The hospital has a staff of professional chaplains who are available to give support to patients and families through conversation, processing of difficult experiences or new diagnoses, prayer and spiritual and emotional support. Chaplains can also assist in notifying your priest, minister, rabbi or faith group leader that you are hospitalized and would like a visit. Fridolf A. Hanson Memorial Chapel is located on the first floor near the gift shop. It is always open to visitors of all faiths for prayer and meditation. Everyone is invited to attend workshop services in the chapel each Sunday from 10 to 10:30 a.m., or view the service from a hospital television on channel 15. Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To request a chaplain, you may ask your nurse to contact the on-call chaplain or call the hospital operator (515) 263-5612 Gift and Flower Shop Our gift shop has a large variety of gifts, flowers, drinks and snacks for patients and employees with free delivery. Shopping is easy and convenient with our online Gift Shop. Shop Online Gift Shop hours are as follows (the shops are closed on major holidays): Iowa Lutheran Auxiliary Gift & Flower Shop. Open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wireless Internet A guest wireless network is available to patients and visitors. To access the network, find the list of available wireless networks on your device and select "UnityPoint Guest WiFi" to connect. You must accept our terms of use because you can access the wireless network from your laptop, tablet or smartphone. If you have trouble gaining access to the Internet, please call our 24-hour phone support system at 1-877-374-0229 to listen to a help message. Guest Accommodations If you are considering hotel accommodations for your visit, the greater Des Moines area offers a wide range of options. We have arrangements with many local hotels who may be willing to provide special rates for our patients and their family members. Note: Please make sure to ask for the hospital rate when calling. Safety and Security Our hospital is staffed 24 hours a day by professionally trained officers who provide protective services, security, safety assurance and compliance, emergency preparedness and parking/traffic control. Hospital staff must ask your name and birthday and check your name band before every medication, test or surgery.
