Inquiry Learning
Inquiry Learning at WEPS
Inquiry learning at WEPS inspires curiosity, creativity, and engagement, helping students learn how to learn across the curriculum while developing key transferable skills that reflect our Positive Education approach and school values.
Communication
(sharing ideas and listening thoughtfully)
Self management
(preparing for learning, reflecting on and working towards personal goals, persisting when challenged)
Collaboration
(working as a team, respecting peers and working towards a shared goal)
Thinking
(remaining open-minded, considering how to share thinking and how this changes throughout a learning journey).
Researching
(developing questions, using a range of sources, making meaning of the information collected)
Big Questions and Inquiry Learning
Each Learning Community at WEPS explores a
termly Big Question
to spark curiosity and engagement. Aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, these questions provide real-world contexts for students to develop understandings across History, Geography, and Civics and Citizenship (Years 3–6). The inquiry process helps students dive deeper into learning, with flexible phases that adapt to their interests and understanding.
