Gold was the theme of the day when the W+H varsity track and field athletes competed in the GMC Gold Division Championships in Spotswood on April 13. Led by double event winners Ryan Maciorowski ’26 and Duaa Noor ’27, the Rams captured first place in eight events.
In an amazing display of athletic versatility and stamina, Ryan began his day competing in the Bomber Classic Golf Tournament. By NJSIAA rules, he is permitted to compete in both golf and track. Athletes are allowed to compete in two sports in the same season as long as one is a "non-strenuous" sport. Golf and bowling are the only two sports so classified.
Ryan and Duaa completed long distance doubles, winning the 1600 and 3200-meter runs. Ryan posted times of 5:03.30 and 11:26.65, winning the 1600 by less than a second and the 3200 by 20 seconds. Duaa ran 6:25.22 and 14:39.07, taking the 1600 by three seconds and the 3200 by 39 seconds.
Other W+H Gold Division individual champions included Jolie Paton ’28 in the 800, Jayla Presley-May ’26 in the 400 hurdles for the girls, and Angel Chun ’28 in 800 for the boys. The girls’ 4x400 relay team of Bella Perez ’29, Angel Lei ’26, Shweta Saravanan '28 and Jolie Paton also won gold.
