GCSE Class of 2025 celebrates success
Year 11 Pupils at Leicester Grammar School (LGS) achieved a fantastic set of GCSE results this summer, with 74% of all GCSEs awarded the top grades of 9-7 (A*-A). 56% were awarded grade 8 or above, and 31% grade 9.
The LGS GCSE class of 2025 contains a host of talented actors, musicians and sports people, including: a National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain Champion, a national level swimmer; two Leicestershire county cricketers; and a Leicestershire county tennis player.
There were a significant number of outstanding individual performances this year, with:
six pupils achieved a clean sweep of grade 9;
ten pupils achieved 10 or more grade 9;
and an outstanding 25 pupils achieved all of their GCSEs at the top grades of 9 or 8 (equivalent of the old A*).
Graham Purves, the incoming Principal of Leicester Grammar School Trust and Head of Leicester Grammar School, said:
These outstanding results are testament to our pupils' curiosity, commitment and resilience. I know that I speak on behalf of all of my colleagues at LGS, when I say that we are all so very proud of all that this group have achieved, which is especially impressive when we remember that this group of pupils experienced the disruption due to COVID in their last year in primary school, and their first year in senior school.
All of this has been achieved with the fantastic support of all of my colleagues at LGS, under the leadership of John Watson who retired as Principal this summer.
