Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging
We celebrate differences, recognise individuals and tailor our support to their needs. We value diversity and believe that equity should permeate all aspects of school life.
These differences can include the language spoken at home, housing, culture, personal, emotional and social confidence, family structure and life experiences, to name but a few. In addition, our curriculum teaches cultural humility and provides opportunities for pupils to appreciate their own culture and celebrate the diversity of others.
Our school is a diverse community with over 30 different nationalities. We aim to meet the needs of everyone by acting as role models and behaving and talking to others as we would like them to treat us. We have a joint staff and parent Diversity and Inclusion Committee and are actively working to ensure our staff body is representative of the pupils and families we serve. Our Parent Panel works closely with the school to enhance the Dulwich Prep & Senior experience.
Our community invites a sense of belonging and togetherness that is enhanced by the relationships between the staff and pupils and among the children. Mentoring programmes, peer support, Mental Health Champions, Restorative Justice, vertical tutoring, and ‘big readers’ are just some ways we invite the children to interact with each other, teaching the life skills of patience, understanding, inclusion and kindness.
Our values of Service and Humility help our pupils see beyond their horizons to the world outside. The charitable works grow year after year, initiated by the children who, at this young age, have already understood the impact their contribution can make.
