Cybersecurity Alert: Stay Safe from Online Scams
Criminals Are Targeting the Public by Pretending to Be Health Authorities
URGENT ALERT:
Cybercriminals are exploiting public health emergencies to trick individuals into clicking malicious links, opening harmful attachments, or giving away sensitive information.
Public Safety Notice
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) reminds all stakeholders, partners, and the general public to be vigilant against fraudulent messages pretending to come from health officials or government sources. Stay informed and protect yourself from cybersecurity threats.
Be Alert: Fake Emails and Messages
Scammers may send emails or WhatsApp messages that appear to come from GHS or related health institutions. These messages may:

Ask you to click suspicious links

Include unrequested attachments

Attempt to collect financial or personal data
Note:
These tactics are known as
phishing
and are used to steal information or infect your device with malware.
GHS Will Never:

Ask for your username or password to provide public health information
✗
Send email attachments you didn't request
✗
Ask for money to apply for health jobs, register for conferences, or access services
✗
Ask for donations via unofficial emails or mobile money accounts
✗
Offer prizes, grants, or certificates through email or SMS
Any communication that violates these rules is not from GHS.
How to Verify Genuine GHS Communication
All official GHS emails use the
@ghs.gov.gh
domain. For example:
info@ghs.gov.gh
Always check the sender's email address. If the email does not end in @ghs.gov.gh, it is likely fraudulent.

Some scammers may forge the "From" address to look like a GHS email. Always double-check links, content, and context.
