Medical Laboratory Sciences is the field of paramedical sciences that deals with biochemical, pathological,
and microscopic examination of cells, tissues, and fluids of the body. It imparts skills to learners to aid
physicians to diagnose and treat variety of diseases.

The School of Allied and Healthcare Sciences is offering 4 years Honours degree in Medical Laboratory
Sciences. It has been proved during the covid that healthcare is the best option to opt for carrier. The
curriculum of B.Sc. MLS program is structured as per the National Education Policy-2020 and model
curriculum designed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). Our School is offering this
skilled program to the students in which hand-on practice and clinical trainings in multispecialty
hospitals and medical colleges of the region such as Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Shrimann
Hospital (Jal.), Civil Hospital (Jal.), Capitol Hospital, Fortis Hospital etc. This helps the student for
overall development and communication to face the industry, hospitals, and the real-life/practical
situations. The various knowledge and techniques learned by our students after classroom teaching and
hands on practical in various laboratories make them successful professionals so that they can face and
accept the worldly challenges that come in their way. Aside from classroom teaching, we at GU arrange
guest lectures/workshops/conferences from expert professionals in hospital visits, Research Projects,
Clinical trainings, Internships, and Educational Trips for the overall development of students.

Program Outcomes:
Apply knowledge and technical skills associated with medical laboratory sciences for delivering
quality clinical investigations support.
Perform routine clinical laboratory procedures within acceptable quality control parameters in
hematology, biochemistry, immunehematology and microbiology.
Demonstrate technical skills, social behavior and professional awareness for functioning effectively
as a laboratory technician.
Apply problem solving techniques in identification and correction of pre analytical, post analytical
& analytical variables.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment utilizing appropriate quality control and safety
procedures.
Recognize the impact of laboratory tests in a global and environmental context.
Communicate effectively by oral, written and graphical means.
Function as a leader/team member in diverse professional and industrial research areas.
Apply the fundamentals of research process to complete and present research studies that enrich the
field of physical therapy.
Function in an ethical and professional manner without bias against any ethnicity, race, religion,
caste or gender.
Practice professional and ethical responsibilities with high degree of credibility, integrity and
social concern.
Program Specific Outcomes:
Competency to perform a full range of testing in the contemporary medical laboratory encompassing
pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical components of laboratory services, including
hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, body fluids, molecular diagnostics, phlebotomy,
immunology and hematology.
Proficiency to problem-solves, troubleshoot, and interpret results, and use statistical approaches
when evaluating data.
Professional conduct, respecting the feelings and needs of others, protecting the confidenceof
patient information, and not allowing personal concerns and biases to interfere with the welfare of
patients.
Administrative skills consistent with philosophies of quality assurance, continuous quality
improvement, laboratory education, resource management, and appropriate composure under stressful
conditions.
Application of safety and governmental regulations and standards as applied to medical laboratory
practice.
Effective communication skill to ensure accurate and appropriate information transfer.
