It is my great
pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies of Sylhet
Agricultural University.
The Faculty of
Postgraduate Studies was established in March 2017 under the Sylhet
Agricultural University Act 2006 with the mission of advancing high-quality
postgraduate education and impactful research, particularly at the MS and PhD
levels. Since its establishment, the faculty has evolved into a comprehensive
academic and research platform encompassing 44 departments across a wide range
of disciplines.
The faculty
covers key areas including veterinary and animal sciences, biomedical sciences,
agriculture, fisheries, agricultural economics, agricultural engineering,
biotechnology, genetic engineering, and social and communication sciences.
Through interdisciplinary education and research, we are committed to
addressing emerging global challenges such as food and nutrition security,
sustainable agriculture, climate change adaptation, environmental protection,
and the advancement of agro-based industries.
Strengthening
research capacity and infrastructure remains a core priority of the faculty.
Significant progress has been made in developing advanced research facilities
and innovative technologies focused on productivity improvement, disease
management, nutrient efficiency, water and environmental sustainability, and
modern biotechnological applications. These efforts have been supported by
research funding from both government and non-government organizations.
Our
postgraduate students have consistently demonstrated excellence in academic and
research performance, earning Dean’s and Chancellor’s Awards across
departments. The faculty actively promotes department-based research,
interdisciplinary collaboration, and national and international partnerships,
creating a research-driven academic culture with global connectivity.
At present,
faculty members and postgraduate researchers are engaged in research of
national and international importance, with outcomes published in reputable
peer-reviewed journals. To ensure academic relevance and global
competitiveness, modern and outcome-based curricula have been implemented
across all departments, preparing our graduates for advanced research,
innovation, and leadership roles worldwide.
As Dean, I am
committed to fostering an inclusive, innovative, and future-oriented academic
environment that embraces digital transformation, interdisciplinary research,
and international collaboration. I strongly believe that graduates of this
faculty are well equipped to contribute meaningfully to national development
and global scientific advancement.
I warmly invite
