This is usually done in your last semester. However, if you are an athlete in competition, it needs to be done out-of-season. If you are a spring season athlete it can be done in the fall of your senior year IF you have successfully completed all of your EDUCATION and HPE courses at that time. This requires taking them more quickly and taking general education courses at a slower rate so you have them left for your semester after student teaching. Category To Do Courses If you haven't already be sure to take COMM 101, HPE 220, ED 303 and BIO 101. There is an application, essay, and interview as well. Official acceptance is needed to take some upper level classes in ED and HPE. Category To Do Courses Take HPE 320 and HPE 380 in the spring. Take HPE 385, ED 326, and SRMT 410 in the fall if you can, definitely if you plan to student teach in the fall of your senior year. Opportunities Continue to take general education courses and ED and HPE courses that you have not taken, such as EXSC 255, EXSC 310, and EXSC 303. Exploration Talk with your advisor about whether you wish to teach at the Elementary School level or Secondary level (Middle or High School) so field experience and student teaching placements can be made.
