Terms and conditions for school group visits
Bring your school group to the museum and discover what home means to you. We offer facilitated creative workshops and self-guided visits for early years, primary, secondary and college groups of up to 30 students with accompanying adults.

We invite school groups of up to 30 students with accompanying adults to book self-led visits.

Costs
Workshops are:
Free
for non-fee paying schools under two miles from the museum. Cancellation fees apply
£135 + VAT
for non-fee paying schools over two miles from the museum.
£185 + VAT
for fee paying schools.

All school visits must be booked in advance. Workshop bookings require at least two weeks’ advance booking. To cancel or change your workshop, please let us know as soon as possible at schools@museumofthehome.org.uk.
Workshops cancelled within two weeks of the workshop date will incur the full cost of the workshop. Schools eligible for free workshops will be subject to a £135 charge. Please see

Getting here and access
Our main entrance is opposite Hoxton Station, with stepped and ramped access. You can also enter via the Kingsland Road Gardens. We are fully accessible.
There are three accessible toilets, two on the lower ground floor and one on the ground floor. Our toilets at reception are gendered. The toilets near the Learning Pavilion are not gendered.
If you have booked a self-led visit and are looking for a space to gather, we suggest our main reception, lawns or the Lunch Room. If you would like a quiet space, please email bookings@museumofthehome.org.uk and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Safeguarding
Accompanying adults are responsible for supervising students including during workshops, and should remain with their students at all times.
We expect the following ratios of accompanying adults:
EYFS / KS1
1 adult to 6 pupils
KS2
1 adult to 8 pupils
KS3/4
1 adult to 10 pupils
Post 16
1 adult to 15 pupils

Eating and storage
Please let us know in your online booking if you would like a lunch space and we will do our best to accommodate your request. If you have booked a workshop with us your class can eat in the workshop space.
For self-led visits you can eat in either the Lunch Room or on our lawns. The Lunch Room is unstaffed and accommodates approximately 30 students. Please ensure you clean up after your group and use the bins provided. This space cannot be booked, and you may have to share it with other groups.
During workshops we will store your bags in the workshop space.For self-led visits we have space to store bags for the duration of your visit, and some free lockers in reception. Please speak to a member of the Visitor Experience Team upon arrival.
