Strategic Initiatives
Our six strategic initiatives are designed to bridge our vision and the goals needed to achieve them. They detail the objectives necessary to advance our school.
List of 6 frequently asked questions.
1. Elevate the student experience.
We cannot ration the information our students can draw upon throughout their lives. Instead, we must provide them with the ability to access the unbounded world of knowledge. We must prepare our students to embark on a lifetime of learning and discovery. Our students cannot just passively absorb subject matter; they must be true learners, actively exploring their environment. We must teach them learning skills that will set them on the path to self-directed learning.
2. Empower educators.
Teachers are arguably the most important members of our school community. They provide children with purpose and perspective and inspire a drive to do well and succeed in life. Teachers hold students accountable for their successes and failures, and great teachers position their talented students to reach their full potential.
3. Honor and leverage human diversity.
Every culture, every nationality and every person sees the world in a different way. Similarly, every culture, nationality and person has different knowledge, perspectives and points of view. When these views are shared, learning, creativity and innovation can thrive.
4. Explore and experiment with ideas.
Civilizations advance because of people's ability to share ideas. We believe that we will only continue to progress as a civilization if we always leave some room for doubt and some room for discussion. An open mind in search of the truth is essential for the future of humankind.
5. Enhance physical structures and facilities.
An intangible power emanates from the spaces in which we live, learn and work. It touches and shapes our behavior, perceptions and interactions. When designed well, a space can make one feel deeply appreciative of the amazing people who are part of the community.
6. Pioneer the ethical use of digital technologies.
Technology cuts across all learning activities and includes instructional or academic technology, LJCDS' technology infrastructure and systems, and emerging trends in students' use of technology. The process of renewing the curriculum should inform the technology planning process.
