Early Childhood Center The La Jolla Country Day School Early Childhood Center's (ECC) goal is to provide each child an environment that offers developmentally appropriate activities to encourage social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth as well as personal responsibility. The 7:1 student-to-teacher ratio promotes individualized attention and encourages a love of learning. Tiny Torreys Each Early Childhood Center classroom includes one lead and one associate teacher, with 12-14 children per room. The Tiny Torreys program is for children 3 and 4 years of age. (Age 3 and toilet trained by July 31) Weekly Options: Three Full Days Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:15 a.m.–2:45 p.m. Five Half Days Monday–Friday: 8:15 a.m.–Noon Five Full Days Monday–Friday: 8:15 a.m.–2:45 p.m. Junior Kindergarten (Age 4 by July 31) Weekly Options: Five Half Days Monday Friday: 8:15 a.m. Noon Five Full Days Monday–Friday: 8:15 a.m.–2:45 p.m. Extended Day In addition to the standard hours listed above, the Early Childhood Center also provides an "Extended Day" for students who require additional care after the school day ends.
