Job Description
Position Overview
Work Schedule:
Fulltime
A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Stem Cells Toxicology Group of the Mechanistic Toxicology Branch (MTB) in the
Division of Translational Toxicology Program
(DTT) at the
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences
(NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The research project will use pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) for the development and application of cardiac and cerebral organoids for studying chemically induced fibrosis. Several research tools (e.g. cell culture/maintenance; cell-based assays; molecular biology; high-throughput screening; high-content imaging; transcriptomics; etc.) will be used in this project. The successful candidate will have opportunities to gain an appreciation for various approaches to understanding mechanistic linkages between drug and environmental exposures and fibrosis. Opportunities also exist to learn about development and optimization of biologically and physiologically relevant
in vitro
new approach methodologies (NAMs) for investigating toxicity & disease development.
Postdoctoral fellows are considered as professionals-in-training and are not classified as NIH employees. Medical insurance is provided. Stipends commensurate with experience.

Qualifications
Demonstrated experience and aptitude for developing novel
in vitro
approaches is highly desired.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work on multiple projects are essential.
Experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques is required.
Experience working with pluripotent stem cells and 3D organoids is highly desired.
Ph.D. in cell biology, toxicology, or related field within the past 5 years.
