The B.A. in English (B.A. (English)) Program under
NEP2020 offers an enriching and comprehensive
study of the English language, literature,
linguistics and culture.
The program is designed to provide students with a
deep understanding of the written and spoken word,
as well as critical thinking and analytical
skills.
Throughout the course, students will explore
various literary genres, periods, and movements,
gaining insights into the evolution of English
Literature and its impact on society.
Additionally, the program provides a broad
learning platform for students in the fields of
English Language Education and Linguistics with
emphasis on teaching pedagogy, effective
communication, writing proficiency, and a global
perspective, thus, preparing students for diverse
career paths in fields such as education, media,
publishing, and more.
By immersing themselves in the world of literature
and language, B.A. (English) students will develop
a broader appreciation of the human experience and
the power of storytelling.
Therefore, this course is designed to enhance
students' contact with all three aspects of
English as subject, namely, Literature, Language,
and Linguistics.

Program Structure
The B.A. (English) Program is
organised into 8 Semesters in 4 Years. There is
Discipline Specific (Major) Courses (DSC) along with
Discipline Specific Elective (Minor) Courses (DSE)
related to Tourism and Travel Management. The Minor
Courses are Electives. Apart from these, the
students will also study Interdisciplinary (IC),
Ability Enhancement (AEC), Skill Enhancement (SEC)
and Value Added Courses (VAC). At the end of the
First Year, the students will undertake Internship
and at the end of the Second Year, the students will
undertake Skill-based Vocational Courses. From the
Semester IV to Semester VII, the students will have
to undertake MOOCs classes under SWAYAM.

The program structure is subject to change.

specialization in Teaching English
Literature and English Language, Children's
Literature, Varieties in English Language,
Indian Writing in English, Grammar in
Language, Creative Writings from Northeast
India, Materials and Syllabus Design,
Minority Literature, Language Testing
Techniques, Gender Studies, Language
Evaluation, Masterpieces in English
Literature and CALL. Any one of the DSE
Course is to be selected by the student per
Semester subject to not less than 10% of the
students in the class opting for a
particular Elective Course.
Degrees will be issued to students as per
UGC's Rules to those students who wish to

Admission Modalities
The Admission Modalities are with reference to the
campus-based programs offered by the ICFAI University,
Meghalaya at Tura & Shillong campuses. The medium of
instruction is English.
Eligibility
Pass in Class XII (any discipline). Students awaiting
final examinations results are also eligible to apply.
Students of Class XII who have not received the original
certificates from the Board by July 18, 2026 will be
admitted provisionally. Their admission will be
confirmed subject to their passing the qualifying
examination. The registration of the candidates not
meeting the criteria by September 16, 2026 will be
cancelled and admission fee will be forfeited and only
50% of the semester fee will be refunded after notifying
the cancellation of the seat by the University.
The selection of applicants into the Program is
made through screening of application and
interview. While evaluating students for
admission, due weightage is given to their
academic distinction, awards in sports/cultural
events, debates, quizzes and other extra
co-curricular activities
Original certificates and Domicile certificate
should be produced for verification at the time
of payment of first semester fee. The original
certificates will be returned after
verification.
There shall be a special provision for admission
of students belonging to the State of Meghalaya
in any course of ICFAI University, Meghalaya,
which shall not be less than 25 (twenty-five)
percent of seats in each course / discipline
subject to the students meeting the minimum
qualifying requirements referred to above.
Seats remaining unfilled under special
reservation may be filled up by allotting the
same to students belonging to Open Category.

and make payment of Rs. 300 towards online
Registration charges by using Credit / Debit
Card (Visa / Master Card / Citibank Card) or
Internet banking option using secure
internet payment gateway. Applicants
applying online should attach their scanned
colour photograph along with the Online
Application. The Prospectus will be sent to
such applicants.

the following certificates (Attestation should
be done by any Gazetted Officer/Principal of the
College).
Date of Birth Certificate/Class X Certificate.
Marksheet of Class XII/Degree certificate (as
may be applicable).
Domicile Certificate.
Migration Certificate
Any other certificates pertaining to academic
and other activities.
Please paste your recent passport size colour
photograph on the Application Form.

Fee Schedule
Fee comprises of Admission Fee and Program Fee.
Admission Fee (Non-Refundable)
Admission Fee of Rs 8,000 for B.A. (English) Program is
to be paid by all the selected candidates immediately
after the admission decision is announced. *Foreign
students have to pay an admission fee of Rs. 7,000 for
B.A. (English) program. The last date for payment of
admission fee is July 06, 2026 for B.A. (English)
Program.
Caution Deposit (Refundable)
Students have to pay Rs. 3,000 for B.A. (English)
Program as Caution Deposit along with the first
installment of Program Fee. The Caution Deposit will be
refunded without interest after adjusting for dues, if
any, to the students on completion of the Program.

Students have to pay the program fee at the beginning of
each semester, as per the due dates which will be
indicated in the Student Handbook. The first semester
fee is to be paid on or before July 20, 2026 for B.A.
(English) Program.
