Primary to Secondary - Year 6 to Year 7
If your child is transferring from Year 6 in primary school to Year 7 in Cwmtawe, you must apply for a place within the ‘application window’ as designated by Neath Port Talbot local authority. This is usually during October of Year 6. More information on the application process may be found on the
local authority’s website

If you live outside the catchment area, please note you must apply to Cwmtawe through
Neath Port Talbot CBC
and not your own local authority.
We strongly advise all parents to apply for a place in time. Late applications will only be considered as outlined in Neath Port Talbot Local Authority's Admissions Policy. Living in the school’s catchment area does not guarantee a place at Cwmtawe.
Secondary In-Year Transfers
If you wish to transfer your child to Cwmtawe from another school after the start of Year 7, you are advised to contact the school directly on 01792 863200 or by completing the enquiry form below.
Following a discussion with the Headteacher, an application form would need to be submitted to Neath Port Talbot local authority.
School Capacity
The Welsh Government calculate the maximum capacity of all schools in Wales. This is published within each local authority’s admissions policy. The admission limit for each individual year group in Cwmtawe is 256 and for the whole school is 1,280. Pupils may only be admitted above this number in extreme cases providing certain criteria are met.
