Out of 2,007 nationwide submissions, art student
Patrick Wadlington
has been selected as one of only 87 student artists to be featured in the National Art Honor Societies (NAHS) National Juried Exhibition.
The exhibition, curated by the National Art Education Association (NAEA), represents a highly competitive selection of the most "exceptional" student work from across the country. A panel of esteemed arts educators evaluated the submissions, ultimately choosing less than 5% of the entries for inclusion in this year’s showcase.
Intersection of Math and Nature
Patrick, a 12th-grade student, earned his place in the exhibition with his sculpture titled
"The Golden Ratio."
The piece, measuring 53 x 18 x 46, is a physical exploration of mathematical harmony using natural materials.
In his artist statement, Patrick explains the conceptual depth behind the work:
"The Golden Ratio translates $\phi \approx 1.618$ into form. Each curve follows self-similar growth where the whole relates to the part as the part relates to the next. Built from branches, the spiral makes proportional logic tangible, turning recursion, limit, and harmony into structure."
