Environment Ministry Strengthens Environmental Partnerships During Abaco Visit
Strengthening partnerships remains a key priority in advancing environmental protection and sustainable resource management across The Bahamas.
The Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Zane Lightbourne, along with Permanent Secretary David Davis, recently traveled to Abaco for a series of site visits and strategic meetings with the Bahamas National Trust.
The delegation was joined by Joanne Smith, President of the BNT, Lakeshia Anderson-Rolle, Executive Director, and members of the organization’s team. Discussions focused on key conservation priorities, environmental management challenges, and strategies to protect critical ecosystems across the island.
As part of the visit, the group toured several significant sites within the Abaco protected area system, including Fowl Cays National Park and Abaco National Park. During these visits, updates were provided on habitat management initiatives, environmental response efforts, and opportunities to further strengthen climate resilience.
This engagement underscores the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the Bahamas National Trust. Together, they continue to play a vital role in protecting national parks, safeguarding biodiversity, and advancing sustainable environmental stewardship throughout The Bahamas.
