Discover:
Smaller cities and towns with vibrant communities you can get involved in
Forests and mountains for camping, mountain biking and hiking
Endless stunning beaches - perfect for all things swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking
Locations famed for exceptional food and drink
Our fascinating culture, with forts and castles, atmospheric ruins and world-renowned festivals of music and arts
Inverness
Learn in the capital of the Highlands. A stone's throw away from the Cairngorm National Park- the largest National Park in the UK- Inverness is an extraordinary location for hiking, camping and world-class water and winter sports.
As the start and end point of the North Coast 500, a Lonely Planet must-do experience, (2019), you’ll never be stuck for something to do, with unforgettable glens, lochs, mountains and beaches on your doorstep.
Based in the UK's most culture-rich city (The Times 2019), Inverness is shaped by the region’s rich cultural heritage, from its language and history to its stunning natural environment and vibrant arts scene.
North, West and Hebrides
In some of Scotland's most breathtaking regions, our 19 campuses and centres provide world-class education and extraordinary opportunities.
With campuses dotted across the North Coast 500, you can study at some of the most iconic spots in the UK. Discover international surfing competitions in Thurso, the UK’s Outdoor Capital in Fort William, the magical fairy pools on the Isle of Skye or see the 9000 year old Calanais Standing Stones on the Isle of Lewis.
At each of our locations, we cultivate a welcoming and inclusive learning atmosphere. Our devoted staff, and students form a tight-knit community that values diversity and encourages individual development.
Shetland
With so much to do across 100 islands, you can cycle, walk and climb outside, visit the most northerly cinema in the UK, and be surrounded by a prolific arts community. Enjoy the white sandy beaches and clear blue water with wild swimming, surfing or sailing. You can scuba dive to explore underwater caves, historic ship wrecks as well as a reef teaming with wildlife. See the otters, orcas and dolphins, and of course, the tiny Shetland ponies!
Experience the Up Helly Aa festival, a Viking fire festival where thousands come together to dress up as Vikings, dance and burn a Viking gallery boat. Walk in the footsteps of Vikings in this UNESCO Global Geopark.
Scottish Association for Marine Science
Study at the university on the beach in Oban, on the West coast of Scotland. Be a part of a dynamic and supportive social community, living in the great outdoors amidst spectacular scenery. Go for a swim in the sea between lectures, meeting up with friends for a mountain hike or bike ride. Throw yourself into the great outdoors, with sailing, white-water rafting, climbing and skiing on your doorstep. Join an inclusive community, where students define their own niche. There are scores of social student gatherings, be it for BBQs on the beach, house parties, pub crawls and film nights.
