Student Involvement & Belonging | Oregon Tech Back Student Involvement & Belonging All Locations WHERE STUDENTS CONNECT Ours is a campus culture that’s built not just on academic pursuits but on goals of sustainability, extracurricular activities and the right amount of nerdom. Figuring out how to spend your time doesn’t have to be rocket science, but it can be: Some of our students do build rockets for fun. But there’s also no one, singular Oregon Tech experience. Our campuses bring collective energy into one community where you’ll find gamers and geeks (proudly), explorers of the natural world, athletes, book aficionados and volunteers passionate about changing the world through causes they believe in. Our students are innovators— like our female engineers who created technology that turns waste plastic back into crude oil . They are difference makers like the dental hygiene students who traveled to Jamaica to provide dental care to rural areas. And about those rocket scientists? Our students have worked with NASA to launch stuff into space. At our Klamath Falls campus, entirely heated by geothermal water resources, you'll find students living, eating, and working together, allowing them to build long-term personal and professional connections. Outside the classroom, they lead student government, exercise in our campus facilities, and challenge one another in eSports. They also volunteer and engage in our wide range of student organizations—or, when they can’t find exactly what they’re looking for, they create their own. Oregon Tech Land Acknowledgments KLAMATH FALLS : Oregon Tech resides on the ancestral homelands and traditional territory of the Klamath, Modoc, and Yahooskin Nations who have stewarded this land since time immemorial. PORTLAND-METRO : Oregon Tech's Portland-Metro campus resides on the ancestral and contemporary home of the Clackamas, Kathlamet, Multnomah, the Tualatin Kalapuya People, Tumwater, and the Watlala bands of the Chinook, who have stewarded this land since time immemorial. We also respectfully acknowledge the many tribes and bands of the Klamath Basin region, the many Indigenous nations and lands along the Columbia, and the continued sovereignty of the nine tribes of Oregon and Northern Californian tribes that have ties to this land. It is important to acknowledge the ancestors of this place and to recognize that we are all here because of the sacrifices forced upon them. We also respectfully acknowledge the many Indigenous nations, bands, and tribes lands along the Columbia River. In doing so, we hope to honor their legacy and lives, as well as continue to build the relationship with the Native peoples of this region, the state of Oregon, and across the United States.
