Synergy Project
Catalyst is delighted to have been awarded £1 million from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to deliver the Synergy Project, an exciting programme of works which aims to make our heritage accessible to both existing and new audiences, in an engaging and meaningful way.
Catalyst is the UK’s only museum dedicated to the chemical industry, and our extensive archive houses over 100,000 historical artefacts and records. The collections reveal the stories of scientific discoveries that changed the world, whilst also exploring the impact that the industry had on the local area and the lives of the people who lived and worked in the community.
Through Synergy, we will:
Transform our heritage galleries into interactive, multi-sensory, free flowing spaces which tell the story of the local chemical industry and how it has shaped the landscape, culture and people of this area.
Digitise our extensive archive of over 100,000 historical artefacts and records, making them more accessible to the public than ever before.
Enhance our education programmes with the implementation of new heritage activities to complement our existing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) offer.
Reach wider audiences through an exciting programme of new community activities and events.
The
National Lottery Heritage Fund
is the largest funder for the UK’s heritage. Using money raised by National Lottery players we support projects that connect people and communities to heritage. Our vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. From historic buildings, our industrial legacy and the natural environment, to collections, traditions, stories and more. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past.
Synergy Project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to make our heritage accessible to both existing and new audiences.
