Work-Study Program (Student Employment)
Earn While You Learn
The Work-Study program offers employment opportunities on and off campus. These opportunities
are a great way to develop a resume and gain valuable work experience while earning
a paycheck.
Types of Work-Study
Federal Work-Study Program (FWS)
Federal Work-Study Program (FWS) is a federally funded program that provides financial
assistance with post-secondary education expenses. The FWS program allows you to earn
a paycheck through part-time employment. You may work up to 19 hours a week and are
guaranteed to earn at least $12/hour on campus and $14/hour off campus for the duration
of your employment. In general, you are not permitted to work in FWS positions during
scheduled class times.
Institutional Work-Study (IWS)
Institutional Work-Study (IWS) is a campus-funded program that provides you with financial
assistance with post-secondary education expenses. The IWS program allows you to earn
a paycheck through part-time employment. You may work up to 19 hours a week and are
guaranteed to earn at least $12/hour on campus and $14/hour off campus for the duration
of your employment.
Work-Study Program Eligibility Requirements
Students must
complete the FAFSA
and meet the general eligibility requirement for federal student aid.
Must consent to a criminal background check.
Must maintain satisfactory academic progress in their courses of study to remain eligible
for employment.
Must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours each semester the student works.
Students wanting to work off campus must have completed English 1301 with a C or better.
