The Friends of the Montrose Library raise funds through used book sales and sometimes through other projects.  The Friends’ Board of Directors decides which projects the funds will support and keeps the organization a running and vital group.  Their Annual Meeting, where they elect new Board members, is held in April.

Permanent Book Funds
In order to provide Montrose County residents the full measure of resources, services and access befitting great libraries, we need support beyond our current income, which currently allows us to spend less than 50% of the state average on books and other materials. Toward this end, we created the Libraries of Montrose County Foundation.
With a gift of $2,500 or more (which can be pledged over 5 years if desired), you can establish a Permanent Book Fund. Your gift will be invested in perpetuity, with its income used to purchase books annually. You can name the Book Fund and designate the type of books to be purchased. With your permission, your Fund’s name will be added to a plaque in the library, and printed on bookplates to be placed in each book that is purchased. A list of these books will be sent annually to the donor or designee.
See our brochure below and for more information about Permanent Book Funds, please contact Paul Paladino at

Make a Memorial Gift
A gift to the library may be used to memorialize a loved one, to celebrate an important occasion in the life of a friend or relative, or to enrich the library’s resources. Contributions are used to provide books, magazines, and other useful materials for your library.
A bookplate inscribed with the name of the donor and the person honored is placed in each volume purchased with your gift
.

The person honored or the family of the one memorialized is notified of the gift without mention of the amount. Donors receive an official acknowledgment from the Montrose Regional Library District.
Donations are tax-deductible. The Federal Tax I.D. number for the Montrose Regional Library District is 84-0589996.

Donate new or gently used books/media to the Library
Donations of used books and media are appreciated and help the library in a variety of ways. All donated items become the property of the library and will not necessarily be added to our collections. After going through an evaluation process, any books that are not selected go to the Friends of the Library for their book sale. In either case, the donations benefit the library! Thank you!
We do not accept certain categories of books, including old textbooks, outdated computer manuals, and outdated reference works. We do not accept damaged books, especially those with water damage or evidence of mold.
