Our Guiding Principles of Learning
At Sandringham Primary School, it is expected that all students can and will learn, and we believe that, as teachers of these students, we are also learners.
Our belief is that education is about the whole child - about their intellectual, emotional, social, cultural, creative and physical development.
The school provides opportunities for students to:
develop appropriate skills in all curriculum areas, particularly English and Mathematics.
acquire critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
collaborate with others.
develop the necessary social skills to become positive and responsible members of the community.
develop initiative, confidence and an inquiring mind.
grow in self-confidence and self-esteem.
develop self-responsibility.
We also aim to provide an inclusive and supportive learning environment where students, parents, teachers and the community share a commitment to the vision and philosophy of the school. There is a shared sense of ownership and responsibility as they work together to achieve common goals.
The teachers at Sandringham Primary School have a strong commitment to student learning and the overall goals and priorities of the school. They enjoy their profession, work as a supportive team and believe strongly in professional growth.
Sandringham Primary School respectfully acknowledges the Boon Wurrung /
Bunurong
people, and other peoples of the Kulin Nation on whose ancestral lands we teach and learn. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
Sandringham Primary School is located about 15 kilometres south east of the Melbourne City Centre. The school is one of the oldest in Victoria, celebrating 170 years in 2025.
