Philanthropy is in our DNA
Nearly two centuries ago, Mary Lyon had the bold vision that women could do anything when given access to education. Mary ignited the spark that transformed higher education, but she could not do it alone.
Against staggering societal and logistical barriers, she found a community of supporters who shared her forward-looking views on educational equity, and together they transformed higher education — and the world.
Mount Holyoke would not have existed without people who believed — and invested — in her bold vision. The same legacy of giving that helped open the doors of the Mount Holyoke Female Seminary in 1837 sustains and propels the College to this day. This generosity ensures that Mount Holyoke remains a dynamic, diverse and thriving intellectual and cultural hub as we evolve to meet the needs of current and future students.
