Available Clinical Education Opportunities
Clinical Rotations and Observerships are offered across
most core and subspecialty clinical services
at SLBMC, providing participants with valuable exposure to hospital-based care within the Caribbean context.
Please note:
Clinical education placements are
not available
in the following areas:
Emergency Room (ER)
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Types of Placements
Clinical Rotation (Hands-On Experience)
Clinical Rotations are practical, supervised experiences that may include:
Patient interaction under supervision
Collaboration with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff
Exposure to hospital workflows, clinical decision-making, and professional conduct
These placements are designed to enhance clinical confidence and real-world understanding of hospital practice.
Clinical Observerships (Observation-Based Learning)
Observerships provide structured opportunities to:
Observe clinical practice within a specified specialty
Gain insight into diagnostic, treatment, and care coordination processes
Understand healthcare delivery in a tertiary hospital setting
Observerships do not involve direct patient contact
, independent clinical duties, or clinical decision-making.
Participants are supervised at all times.

All Clinical Rotations and Observerships are
unpaid
Placements are subject to
institutional approval, capacity, and scheduling
Participants must comply with SLBMC policies, professional standards, and confidentiality requirements
