We believe every qualified student should have access to a Garrison Forest education. Our financial assistance program is designed to support families from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds. Awards are need-based, grant-funded (not loans), and help reduce the cost of tuition starting in Kindergarten for qualified families. While the school cannot guarantee assistance, we strive to offer assistance to the widest socioeconomic range of students our funds can afford.

Scholarships
In addition to need-based financial assistance, Garrison Forest School is pleased to offer merit- and need-based awards to students who exemplify the Core Values of our school community.
Mary Moncrieffe Livingston Awards (For Entering Grades 9-12)
Lila Boyce Lohr ’63 Merit Award (For New Students Entering Grade 9)
Named in honor of our school’s founding headmistress, the Mary Moncrieffe Livingston Award is a merit award, renewable annually, for selected new or returning Upper School students each year. This award recognizes our founder’s deep appreciation for community, school spirit, and authentic connection. Miss Livingston chose our school’s motto, Esse Quam Videri, “To Be and Not To Seem,” to capture the importance of authenticity and character that she desired to see within all Garrison Girls, and that vision continues to guide how we learn, live, and connect still today. The 1920 yearbook called Miss Livingston “the incentive of all our best efforts and sharer of all our joys,” and it is with that spirit that the award in her name seeks to recognize students who will make an impact on our community.
All new and returning Upper School students are considered; no additional application is necessary.
Finalists will be invited to interview in late January, and the award recipients will be notified in February. Recipients who make satisfactory academic progress and remain in good standing will have their awards renewed each year.
Named in honor of Lila Boyce Lohr ’63, a lifelong educator and visionary leader, the Lila Boyce Lohr ’63 Merit Award is an annual award for students new to the Upper School. Lila’s enduring service to the school, including her roles as Interim Head of School and Chair of the Board of Trustees, reflects a deep belief in the transformative power of an all-girls education and the strength of a connected community. A leader with integrity, purpose, and care, she is always guided by a commitment to helping others grow and thrive.
The award in her name celebrates students who embody Lila’s spirit of leadership, generosity, and engagement and who show the promise to shape the school community in meaningful and lasting ways. It honors those who lead authentically, serve wholeheartedly, and contribute with curiosity, compassion, and courage, continuing Lila’s legacy through their own impact on the life of the school.
Applicants to Grade 9 are considered for this award; no additional application is required.
