Being able to visit helped me feel that L&C was the right place for me.
When I toured the school, I immediately fell in love with the campus and all its greenery.
I remember the undeniable beauty of the campus, which I visited on a clear, sunny day.
After visiting Lewis & Clark multiple times, I knew that I could see myself spending the next four years in a place immersed in nature while also being in a vibrant city.
I decided to come to Lewis & Clark because when I visited campus, it felt like home. It felt like a place I could see myself living for four years—eating in the dining hall, living in the residence halls, studying in the library.
I loved the vibe, the beautiful campus, and the welcoming culture of the school when I visited. I had a feeling that I would find my people at this school and be able to make connections with the professors, and I was right.
When I toured L&C, I remember being impressed with the creativity and self-expression among students. There was no single archetype of what it meant to be a L&C student.
I visited campus before deciding to come to L&C. It gave me a really good sense as to what my routine would look like here, where my classes would be, and where residence halls are located. My visit really certified my want to be a student at L&C.
I visited campus a few months before I applied, and it helped me realize that I couldn’t imagine myself on any other campus. I grew up for part of my childhood in southern India, and Lewis & Clark reminds me so much of that environment—always green, rainy, and so beautiful in the spring. It felt like coming home.
At the beginning, I only toured L&C for fun. I didn’t expect to fall in love with the campus (both physically and culturally) the way I did.
After visiting campus, I was drawn to the close-knit community and the motivated atmosphere. I had this gut feeling where I could imagine myself among the students at L&C.
My visit helped me envision myself on campus, which helped me when thinking about where I wanted to be for college.
When visiting campus for the first time, I liked the way the school felt like its own little community.
Something that stood out to me on my campus visit was that the admissions team already had a file with my name on it. It made me feel like I was an important candidate and future student to them already. I also loved how green and connected to the forest the campus was.
Honestly, the first time I visited Lewis & Clark it felt like I was home. Not only did the natural beauty amaze me, but the environment and student life made me feel welcome the second I stepped foot onto the campus.

Explore Portland
Lewis & Clark is located in the lush hills of South Portland, the city’s
“sixth quadrant.”
But our beautiful campuses aren’t the entire story—our location offers something that most other schools do not: an ideal setting in a
vibrant, progressive city
with endless networking, entertainment, and cultural resources.
Getting Outdoors
The benefits and beauty of the Pacific Northwest are right outside our door. This area contains some of the most spectacular and well-maintained scenic areas in the United States.

Students have many opportunities to discuss their research with other classmates in small discussion sections and seminars, but they also benefit from L&C’s excellent reputation throughout the greater Portland scientific community.

My favorite part of Portland is the Willamette River. Anywhere you drive in Portland you probably can see the big, snaking, beautiful river. It is so grounding, and reminds me of our connection to river systems, and communities of people, miles and miles away.

My favorite thing about living in Portland are all of the great neighborhoods! I can always find a cute coffee shop, thrift store, or bookstore to spend my afternoons when I’m free from class. There are so many food carts to get a great meal from, and there are great concert venues in the city as well.
