Why do we need this statement?
AI is already rapidly reshaping entire industries and institutions – from how students learn, to how researchers make medical breakthroughs, to how filmmakers create what we see on screens.
We're being proactive and strategic in how we use AI, so we can harness its full potential and so all Victorians benefit. AI will make businesses and workers more productive and drive innovation that can change people’s lives for the better.
Victoria is emerging as a leading AI hub in the Asia Pacific region. The statement sends a clear signal we are ready to compete with regional AI leaders.
What will we achieve with this statement?
To achieve our vision, we've outlined 6 key pillars:
Investment attraction and adoption
Data centres and digital infrastructure
Local innovation, products and services
Talent and workforce
Ethical AI use
Public sector adoption
Victoria is well placed to lead the nation in adopting AI technology and infrastructure. We have a skilled workforce, good land availability and a competitive energy market, positioning the state to attract investment in AI technology and data centres.
We're focused on building public trust in the technologies that are transforming daily life. This will help to unlock the economic potential of AI so all Victorians can benefit.
Under the 6 pillars, we'll deliver a safe, strong and nation-leading AI ecosystem delivering real benefits for people, businesses and the state.
