Don Bosco’s motto: “Give me souls, take away the rest.” expresses his zeal for the salvation of the young. The overriding concern for the spiritual welfare of the young that animated Don Bosco’s life still animates his schools today. Therefore, great emphasis is given to religious formation.
As a Catholic School, it requires all students to study the Catholic faith as a regular academic subject. Besides what is laid down in the commandments of God and of the Catholic church, students are expected to:
Raise their minds to God every morning and evening through personal and communal prayers;
Participate in the Eucharistic Celebration on Sundays and Holy Days of obligation;
Meet Christ in the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least once a month and to receive Holy Communion as often as they can;
Develop a filial love for Mary and loyalty to the Pope, the visible Vicar of Christ on earth;
Consider St. John Bosco as father, teacher and friend emulating St. Dominic Savio, the model of holiness;
Participate in recollections and retreats intended for their spiritual growth and personality development; and,
Participate in all other religious activities organized by the school.

LAMPS PARTICIPATE IN THE RECOLLECTION FOR SPIRITUAL RENEWAL
The Lay Mission Partners (LaMPs) of Don Bosco Technical Institute – Tarlac gathered for a scheduled recollection on June 26, 2025, at the Sto. Cristo campus. Anchored on the theme, “With hope, we journey together for a transformative experience: teaching each other the ugliness of sin and the beauty of virtue,” the activity aimed to deepen the participants’ spiritual journey as co-missionaries in the Salesian educational mission.
The program began at 1:30 p.m. with a Talk and Sharing session in the auditorium. Participants were invited to reflect on their role as lay collaborators and how they can continue to embody the Salesian charism in their daily lives.
At 3:00 p.m., a time for Confession and Adoration was held. Priests were available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, giving the LaMPs the opportunity to encounter God’s mercy and grace in a personal way.
The recollection culminated with the celebration of the Holy Mass at 3:30 p.m., presided over by Fr. Jose Armando Cortez, SDB, a Salesian missionary from Argentina. In his homily, Fr. Cortez emphasized the importance of the Cross in the life of every believer. He reminded the LaMPs that the Cross is not a burden to fear but a sign of God’s love, sacrifice, and victory—a constant companion in every mission partner’s journey of faith.
The entire recollection offered the LaMPs a meaningful pause to pray, reflect, and rekindle their commitment to their vocation. It was a day marked with grace, healing, and a renewed sense of purpose as they continue their shared mission in the spirit of Don Bosco.
LAMPS PRAY THE LECTIO DIVINA
June 20, 2025 – As their opening prayer, the LaMPs (Lay Mission Partners) participated in a meaningful Lectio Divina. The non-teaching staff, along with the Junior High School and Grade School departments, gathered for prayer at the Mary Help of Christians Chapel in the Sto. Cristo Campus. Meanwhile, the Senior High School department held their session at the Crescendo Campus.
Br. Romnick facilitated the Lectio Divina for the group in Sto. Cristo, while Fr. Jojo led the prayer session at Crescendo. After the prayerful reflection on the Word of God, the participants engaged in group sharing, deepening their understanding of the Gospel and strengthening their bonds as mission partners in Don Bosco’s educational ministry.
LAMPS START SCHOOL YEAR WITH A MASS
June 16, 2025 – The LaMPs (Lay Mission Partners) of Don Bosco Tarlac began their weeklong INSET (In-Service Training) with a solemn celebration of the Holy Mass at the Mary Help of Christians Chapel. The Mass was presided over by Fr. Edwin Ulanday, SDB, the rector of the institution.
In his homily, Fr. Ulanday emphasized the pastoral thrust that will guide the LaMPs in the coming year: “With hope, we journey together for a transformative experience: teaching each other the ugliness of sin and the beauty of virtue.” This theme invites all mission partners to walk in faith and unity as they commit to forming young people not only in academics but also in values and character.
During the celebration, the LaMPs renewed their commitment to the mission and vision of Don Bosco Tarlac, affirming their dedication to serve the young with hearts rooted in faith, service, and joy. The Mass concluded with a special blessing, officially marking the start of the formation week and invoking God’s guidance for the days ahead.
THE SALESIAN FAMILY CELBRATES SOLEMNITY OF MHC
The Salesian family joyfully celebrated the Solemnity of Mary, Help of Christians on May 24, 2025, with deep devotion and festive unity. The celebration began with a motorcade around the city at 4:00 in the afternoon, symbolizing Mary’s presence and protection over the community. This was followed by a Solemn Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Ian Rosal, SDB, at the Mary, Help of Christians Chapel.  The event concluded with a salu-salo, strengthening the bonds of the Salesian family in the spirit of thanksgiving and joy.
As we share this reflection on the last day of May, we also mark the end of our Flores de Mayo devotion—an entire month of honoring the Blessed Virgin with flowers, prayers, and acts of love. The celebration of the Solemnity served as the heart of this month-long offering, reminding us of the powerful intercession of Mary, Help of Christians, and the enduring legacy of St. John Bosco, who taught: “Have devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and to Mary, Help of Christians, and you will see what miracles are.”
May our love for Mary continue to flourish, guiding us always closer to her Son.

Ramil Maranan, SDB, delivered the closing remarks, bringing the celebration to a close.
LECTIO DIVINA
7 January 2025
As we welcome 2025, the Pastoral Affairs organized a Lectio Divina for SHS Department. Lectio Divina is a Latin term meaning “Divine Reading.” It is a form of prayerful reflection on Scripture, inviting us to encounter God through His Word. This practice helps us listen deeply to God’s message and apply it to our lives.
This particular Lectio Divina focuses on starting the year 2025 and the second semester with renewed faith and purpose. The Gospel passage (Matthew 5:14-16) chosen encourages us to be the light of the world, shining with kindness,
truth, and positivity.

9 DAYS TO GO - IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, celebrated on December 8th, is a significant event in the Catholic Church that honors the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was conceived without original sin. This day commemorates Mary's purity and sanctity and highlights her presence in God's plan of salvation. The beginning of Mary's life and her special role in bearing the Son of God are commemorated on this feast. The celebration, which represents the Church's awe at Mary's great holiness, is a time for reflection, prayer, and devotion to the Immaculate Conception.
Let us pray in observance of this momentous occasion.
The Immaculate Conception Novena
Day 1:
O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, did prepare a  worthy dwelling place for Your Son, we beseech You that, as by the foreseen death of this, Your Son, You did preserve Her from all stain, so too You would permit us, purified through Her intercession, to come unto You. Through the same Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, world without end. Amen.
O Mary ever blessed Virgin, Mother of God, Queen of angels and of saints, we salute you with the most profound veneration and filial devotion as we contemplate your holy Immaculate Conception, we thank you for your maternal protection and for the many blessings that we have received through your wondrous mercy and most powerful intercession. In all our necessities we have recourse to you with unbounded confidence.
O Mother of Mercy, we beseech you now to hear our prayer and to obtain for us of your Divine Son the favor that we so earnestly request in this novena...
(state your intention here...)
O Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Mother of Christ, you had influence with your Divine Son while upon this earth; you have the same influence now in heaven. Pray for us and obtain for us from him the granting of my petition if it be the Divine Will.
Amen.
8 DAYS TO GO - IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
"
Conception of Mary by Saint Anne” was coined to be the first feast name of the Immaculate Conception back in the 7th century, and later was changed to its name now "Immaculate Conception" under the definition of the doctrine in 1854, in addition of Pope Pius IX declaring December 8, 1854, as an article of faith in accordance with the celebration. According to his pronouncement in Ineffabilis Deus, Mary was given the grace to be sinless at the instant of her conception. Hence, as the feast approaches, let
'
s all celebrate it with faith, and hope, in honor of our Mother.
Let us pray in observance of this momentous occasion.
