Government Regulations
The Australian Government wants overseas students in Australia to have a safe, enjoyable and rewarding place to study. Australia's laws promote quality education and consumer protection for overseas students. These laws are known as the
ESOS framework
and they include the Education Services for Overseas (ESOS) Act 2000 and the
National Code
.

Use of Personal Information
Information provided by the student to St Augustine's College may be made available to Commonwealth and State agencies pursuant to obligations under the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000 and the National Code. St Augustine's College is required under s19 of the ESOS Act 2000 to tell the
Department of Home Affairs
about certain changes to a student's enrolment, and any breach by the student of a student visa condition relating to attendance or unsatisfactory academic performance.
Dispute Resolution
In the event of a dispute or grievance between an individual student and the College, procedures are in place to facilitate the resolution of the dispute. If the student remains dissatisfied with the outcome, they may seek independent external mediation. If external mediation is required, by agreement, the parties will appoint independent arbitrators to oversee the resolution of the issue.
This agreement does not remove the right for you to take further action under Australia's consumer protection laws. Dispute resolution processes do not limit the student's rights to pursue other legal remedies.
Please refer to our
Complaints and Appeals Policy
.
Course Deferment
This refers to permission granted by the College whereby a student is able to leave their studies and recommence them at an agreed later date. Parents are required to write to the International Executive Officer requesting a deferment. The student must be informed that deferring his enrolment may affect his student visa.
