It’s never been more important for businesses to minimise their impact.
At Mater, we have always taken our social responsibility seriously, from addressing the healthcare needs of refugees to advocating for HIV patients.
However, there is always more to do.
Mater recognises its responsibility to minimise its environmental footprint and continues to implement sustainability initiatives to reduce the impact of our operations.
We are also committed to mitigating the risk of modern slavery and continue to raise awareness, provide training and introduce processes that contribute to a solution for this scourge.
Mater's response to modern slavery
With modern slavery impacting millions of people around the world, Mater is committed to ensuring that its processes for the supply of goods and services align with its vision to honour and promote the dignity of human life.
As part of the Catholic healthcare sector, Mater strives to make a positive difference beyond compliance, and works closely with the Australian Catholic Anti-Slavery Network to address widening inequality around the world.

Mater is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children, young people and adults at risk who attend our facilities or who engage in our services.
Consistent with our Mission, Values and Code of Conduct, all Mater People – employees, Board members, volunteers, students, visitors and contractors – have a responsibility to respect, protect and promote the welfare, dignity and human rights of children, young people and adults at risk.
