Leading Through service
Living our mission through meaningful service and making a difference, one hour at a time.
As part of the mission of Eastside Catholic School to "...inspire a life of leadership and service to others," all students are expected to complete annual community service hours. See below for expectations and recommendations by grade level.
Middle School
The goals for each year are:
Sixth grade = 10 hours
Seventh grade = 15 hours
Eighth grade = 20 hours
The middle school student's 4th quarter report card will read "MET" or "NOT MET" to reflect whether they have served and logged their yearly goal hours.
High School
High School Community Service Varsity Letter
Grades 9-12 = 25 hours per year (recommended to reach the 100-hour graduation goal)
Once a high school student has served their total hours (their goal by graduation), the expectation is MET (regardless of the year of completion). At that point, their transcript will read "MET" to indicate they have met their goal by graduation.
Hours served during the summer preceding the school year count towards the yearly goal.
Total hours for students who enroll after the fall semester will be prorated according to their enrollment date.
High school students may earn a varsity letter in community service by completing 100 hours of service by May 1 of the current school year.
Hours must be completed, entered and verified in X2Vol by May 1.
Please note:
A varsity letter in community students is only available to high school students.
