Types of financial aid
A college education doesn’t cost as much as you may think.
These days, college is more important than ever, and at Goodwin University it’s more affordable than you may think.
We are committed to helping you identify financial aid opportunities that make attending college more affordable. During the admissions process, you’ll meet with one of our talented financial aid advisors to design a personalized financial aid package that meets your needs. We’ll even help you fill out your FAFSA.
There are many kinds of financial aid available, including:
Grants and scholarships that don’t have to be paid back
Local & state grants & scholarships
Student loans that will have to repaid
Work-study opportunities that provide a regular paycheck

Goodwin University has one of the
lowest tuition costs for private, nonprofit colleges in the state
. What’s more, Goodwin’s 5-year tuition change was significantly lower than almost all other Connecticut colleges and universities.
88% of Goodwin students received financial aid
in the form of grants or scholarships (fall 2025 degree-seeking student data).
68% of Goodwin undergraduate students receive Pell Grants to help pay for college (fall 2025).
Unlike student loans, Pell Grants do not have to be repaid.
$4.9 million in institutional scholarships

Step 1: Prepare your required documents
Be sure to have the following information available when you sit down to fill out your
Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA): Your Social Security number and driver’s license, and/or Alien Registration Number if you are not a U.S. citizen
Your federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned
Your parent(s) income tax returns, W-2 forms and 1040 forms if you’re a dependent
Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
Step 2: Create your FSA ID
Both students and parents must create an
FSA account
. Create your FSA ID
online
in order to begin and complete your FAFSA application.
Step 3: Use Goodwin’s school code
Goodwin’s federal school code is
015833.
Keep in mind — the FAFSA typically takes 3 to 5 business days to arrive at the financial aid office.
