FAQ’s – GENERAL
What is the student-to-teacher ratio?
Our student to teacher ratio in K-12th grade is 14:1.
Average class size for K-12th grade is 15.
What are the school hours?
School hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for most students.
Preschool picks up at 2:45pm
Kindergarten picks up at 2:55pm
Do you offer extended care before and/or after school?
Yes. We offer a before school program which starts at 7:15 am and an after school program that runs from 3:00 pm to 5:45 pm (cost involved). The before school program is designed for PK only and the afterschool program is designed for PK – 5th grade. K-12 grade students can be dropped off as early as 7:00 am for no extra cost. If students in grades 6-12 need to be picked up later than 3:00, there is a designated, supervised area for them to wait, for no extra cost.
Do Whitefield students wear a uniform?
Yes. Whitefield has a dress code to achieve modesty and neatness. Our dress code varies by school level; however, in grades 6-12 it is characterized by solid colored polos with pants, shorts or skirts in khaki, navy or plaid (skirts).
When can I apply?
Students interested in attending school for the current year can apply at anytime throughout the year. Open enrollment for the following school year begins in early February. Contact our Admissions Office for additional information.
Do you accept vouchers and/or offer tuition assistance to families?
No, we do not accept vouchers. At this time Kentucky is not under a voucher program. Yes, we do offer tuition assistance. Whitefield provides up to $110,000.00 annually in tuition assistance.
I don’t think we can afford Whitefield. Should we still apply?
If you desire your students to attend Whitefield Academy but feel the cost of attending would be a financial hardship, then we highly encourage you to apply to Whitefield and submit a
financial aid application
. The process is confidential and we will do our best to work with you.
What transportation options do I have?
Whitefield does offer two way transportation serving 4 different locations each school day. Please contact the Head of School Office (502-231-6270) for more specific information. For some families, carpooling is also a viable option.
What type of student are you looking for?
Whitefield is looking for students from Christian homes who desire to be part of the Whitefield family. Our students have a desire to be successful both spiritually as well as academically. Students looking to enroll should understand they will pursue an advanced curriculum designed to prepare them for college and life. Whitefield’s policies support the admissions of students from a variety of ethnic, denominational, and socio-economic backgrounds.
How are admissions decisions made?
A principal will review your completed application, supplemental forms, and assessment results to verify that the student aligns both spiritually and academically with our school’s mission. An interview with the family is the final step in our process. In grades 9-12, a student interview is also factored into the decision.
Do both parents need to be a Christian in order to enroll a student at Whitefield Academy?
Whitefield seeks to partner with Christian families in providing a school where spiritual vitality, academic excellence and leadership are pursued simultaneously. Whitefield is committed to students of homes in which at least one parent or guardian professes Christ.
FAQ – ACADEMICS
Is Whitefield Academy Accredited?
Yes. Whitefield Academy is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Cognia (formerly SACS), is certified by the Kentucky Board of Education through the Kentucky Non-Public Schools Commission and is a member of the National Alliance of Christian Schools (formerly SBACS).
Are all Whitefield Academy Teachers Certified?
All teachers at Whitefield Academy hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and valid teaching credentials consistent with the requirements of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and/or the Kentucky Department of Education. Many teachers also hold higher degrees related to their field of study and expertise.
How can I keep up with my student’s progress?
Your student’s assignments and grades can be viewed in our online learning platform throughout each quarter. Report cards are distributed electronically each quarter. In addition to regularly scheduled conferences, we encourage you to contact your student’s teacher with any questions or concerns you have.
At what grade can students participate in accelerated classes?
Whitefield offers challenging and enriching learning experiences through differentiated instruction with advanced content beginning in Kindergarten. Honors, Dual Credit, and Advanced Placement courses are offered through our High School program.
What services do you have available for students who need support?
Whitefield Academy works with students and families with documented learning needs through the development of a learning accommodation plan. For additional information regarding services available, contact our Admissions Office.
Do you use technology in the classroom?
Technology is integrated throughout our curriculum. Students at all academic levels have access to 2 computer labs, various laptop and Chromebook carts, and 1 fully equipped media center for research.
What is your grading scale?
A = 90 – 100
B = 80 – 89
C = 70 – 79
D = 60 – 69
F = 0 – 59
* High School has an additional weighted scale for Honors and Advance Placement classes.
What Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors courses do you offer?
Whitefield currently offers 10 different Advanced Placement courses throughout its high school curriculum.
Are dual credit courses offered?
Yes. Students may take dual credit courses at Whitefield in conjunction with various local and state universities.
How is the day organized for high school Students?
The high school has seven class periods which meet every day. On Thursdays classes meet for a shortened time frame to allow for a chapel period. All students are required to maintain a seven class course load.

15 KHSAA sports are offered:

In what class do Whitefield teams compete?
Whitefield is a member school of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) and also participates in All A Classic competitions in sports where tournaments are sanctioned.
What is the policy on tryouts, cuts and playing more than one sport?
80% of our high school students participate in at least one sport, and multi-sport athletes are very common. There are no cuts in grades K-8. Beginning in 9th grade, the policy varies by sport; However, cuts are limited to just a few sports.
FAQ – Spiritual Life
Does Whitefield have Chapel?
Yes. Chapel is a regular opportunity for students of all grade levels to experience worship, learn truth found in scripture, and hear the stories of people whose lives have been changed by Jesus Christ. Chapel programming is provided for students Pk – 12 grade. Chapel services are held weekly, every Wednesday.
What service opportunities are available to Students?
School sponsored service projects vary by grade level and give students and teachers the opportunity to be a positive witness for Christ in our community. High school students are required to complete 60 hours of community service prior to graduation.
How is the Bible integrated into the curriculum?
Our curriculum is designed to allow teachers the freedom to integrate Biblical truths and principles (a Biblical worldview) into their teaching. They also capitalize on teachable moments to connect these truths and principles from scripture to real life. In addition, students at every grade level have a Bible class as a part of the curriculum.
What other opportunities do you offer for spiritual growth?
Whitefield’s Director of Student Life provides leadership in assisting students in their spiritual growth. Faculty and staff seek to find opportunities to guide and encourage students spiritually as well. Students can participate in Bible studies, community service projects, mission trips or be paired with another peer for accountability and encouragement. In High School, students can apply to be part of the Spiritual Leadership Team, Praise Band, or Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

What Fine arts events do you have, and can I come?
Various events, from High School dramas (Fall and Spring), Annual Christmas program, etc… , are scheduled throughout the school year, and we encourage prospective families to attend.
