If you’re a friendly, outgoing person who loves the water, help us run our popular swimming programs across the state.
Work with us to teach young people the skills they need to stay safe in the water.

There are more than 180 locations in metropolitan and regional WA where you can work.
Swimming instructor requirements
To get a swimming instructor job with us, you must:
be at least 17 years old
have a current CPR certificate
have a swimming instructor qualification
have a
Working with Children Check
, or have applied for one
have a
Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
and screening clearance number if you're over 18.

AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (TWS)
Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (TSW) accreditation
Royal Life Saving WA
Swim Teacher accreditation
SWIM Coaches and Teachers Australia
Swim Australia™ Teacher (SAT) qualification

As part of the swim teacher qualification, you need to complete workplace training. Our training centres provide a safe and nurturing environment for all trainees.

Workplace training requirements
Apply for workplace training
Complete your workplace training at one of our designated training centres.
You will learn and experience the role of a swimming instructor in a positive, safe and supportive environment.
Work placements are generally 2 weeks, from Monday to Friday, between 9 am and 2 pm.
To complete your workplace training with us, you need to:
apply for a job in one of our swimming programs within 6 months of your workplace training
be able to commit to a 2-week work placement, Monday to Friday 9 am to 2 pm
have attended the practical workshop with your course provider
be at least 17 years old
have a current CPR qualification.
If you're over 18, you also need to have a current:
Working with Children Check
, or have applied for one
Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
and screening clearance number.
If you're under 18, you need to get a Working with Children Check after you complete workplace training. This makes you eligible for paid employment.

Water safety officer requirements
To get a water safety officer job with us, you must:
be at least 17 years old
have a Surf Bronze Medallion or Surf Rescue Certificate
have a Working with Children Check, or have applied for one
have a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and screening clearance number if you're over 18.
