School of Health Sciences
School of Health Sciences (SOHS) was established in 1987. Since that time 2 disciplines i.e. ‘Nursing’ and ‘Health Sciences’ are approved to promote various programmes to strengthen the knowledge and update skills of health professionals and various categories of health care workers. SOHS has designed and developed various programmes in the areas of Medicine, Surgery, Nursing, Dentistry, Allied Health Sciences, AYUSH etc. in collaboration with professional councils, ministries, government and non-governmental organzations of national and international repute. The programme package consist of customized and self directed learning materials, supplementary/complementary audio-videos, teleconferencing and radio conferencing. Practical component is an integral part of all programmes and at least 50% of the learning time is earmarked for the same. The students are attached to identified learner support centres established in reputed tertiary or secondary level health institutions like medical/nursing/dental colleges/district hospitals for skills training under the guidance and supervision of experienced acadmic counsellors (trainers). The students are further attached to Skill Development Centres established in secondary level hospitals or at their own health institutions for practicing skills for competency proficiency and learning to work in resource constrained environment. Indian Nursing Council has given credit hours for few nursing diploma and certificate programs to offer as Continuing Nursing Education programs, this will help in-service nurses to add credits/hours for renewing the registration as RNRM with various state councils. SOHS also launched skill program Qualification Pack - Nurse Manager approved by NSQC. Swayam program on Life Style Diseases is also offered by SOHS.
