The Center's study abroad programs are organized through the UF International Center. Looking for a particular experience? Search the full catalog of programs here All the Center’s study abroad programs are open to undergraduate students except for the Urban Planning Program. Credits obtained from study abroad programs offered by other universities may be transferred to the University of Florida, with prior written approval from the UF International Center and the student's major department. Transfer credits may apply towards core or elective requirements for the Minor and Certificate in Latin American Studies , with prior approval and/or follow-up evaluation by the Latin American Studies Undergraduate Coordinator. UF undergraduate and graduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and who are interested in studying Portuguese, Haitian Creole or another less commonly taught Latin American language (i.e. Maya, Quechua etc.) at the intermediate level during the summer, should consider applying for the Foreign Language and Area Studies Summer Fellowships offered by the Center. Featured Study Abroad Program UF in Rio - Language and Culture Spend 6 weeks in Brazil at the Instituto Brasil Estados Unidos (IBEU), located in the heart of the Copacabana section of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A highly regarded bi-national center for language instruction, IBEU provides pleasant classrooms, an Internet-equipped language laboratory, a library, and highly trained language instructors.
