Athletic Performance and Care
The Sport and Co-curricular Office will be offering fortnightly articles available to parents, students, and staff. These articles will provide our community with a library of relevant topics and information to help support your son’s journey through all aspects of college life, from high-performing sports to general health and well-being.
The topics will range from:
Concussion
Common Injury Management
Strength and Power
Nutrition
Sleep
Importance of Exercise during study
Time Management
Recovery
Saints Support will also be planning keynote speakers and presentations over the year to engage both students and parents.
Nutrition Considerations for Teenage Athletes
As part of our Saints Support series, Alex Munt – current Sports Dietician for Cricket NSW, Rowing Australia and GWS Giants presented to our school community. She addressed the following areas: nutrition basics, energy balance, hydration, supplements and nutritional considerations for common adolescent injuries and growth and development.

Shin Pain
The start of summer sport season tends to see us playing sports that can increase our susceptibility to shin pain. These sports can involve a high number of impacts (jumps, sharp stopping, change of direction and running) and be completed on hard/firm surfaces.

Exercise and Academic Performance
It is obvious that exercise has a positive influence on young people’s overall health and wellbeing and with upcoming exams, this article will explore the effects of both chronic (interventions over a long period of time) and acute (short period of time) physical activity/structured exercise on academic performance and provide some practical applications.

Sleep is a process that serves many important functions to our brain and body. These can include, repair, growth, learning and memory. Sleep is essential to our overall health and wellbeing.
