The Most Memorable Years of Your Life
There is no easy way to describe the transformative years you will experience as a Midshipman and a member of the Naval Academy Community.
You will arrive for Plebe Summer, the rigorous yet exhilarating initiation to the Academy, as a bright-eyed and bushy tailed high school graduate, and by the time you throw your hat in the air at graduation, you are fully prepared to be a leader of competence, character, compassion and ready to take on the world.

Leadership Responsibility
Life at the Academy prepares you to be a Naval Officer in the United States Navy or Marine Corps and leadership is one of the foundational skills required.
By the time you take your position as a naval officer leading Sailors and Marines, you will have had four solid years of experience developing and growing your strength as a leader.
Spiritual Opportunity
The Academy embraces freedom of religion in all that we do. This means allowing our midshipmen to worship or not as they desire while placing no requirements on midshipmen to embrace specific beliefs or participate in specific religious services or events.
We provide support for a wide variety of religious beliefs so those midshipmen who desire to worship are free and able to do so for their own personal moral development.
Clubs & Organizations
More than 70 extracurricular activities are available at the Academy to help you explore your personal interests and passions, develop additional skills, and build a connection with your fellow midshipmen.
You can choose from a variety of clubs including the debate team, the Alpine Ski team, the paintball team, the dance club, or a selection of honor societies, just to name a few.

Turning Civilians Into Midshipmen
Grab your uniform and perfect your salute.  This is the beginning of your four years and for seven weeks, you will be introduced to the Navy basics and life at the Academy. This is not a gentle transition into the brigade but a pivotal experience that will test your physical, mental, and moral strength in preparation for life on the Yard.
