Academic Planning Through Self –Service
All Students at SFC have access to Self-Service’s Academic Planning tool through mySFC Portal. Advisors work closely with their assigned advisees to build out degree plans within Self-Service that encompass all student’s degree requirements to keep them on track for timely graduation. Students have access to their plans 24/7, and they are used during the registration process each term to ensure students are aware of needed courses and credits. In addition, through academic planning, advisors work closely with students on their personal and professional goals and help them identify co-curricular opportunities such as internships, joining clubs, working with faculty, and other resources at SFC to take their student experience to the next level.

New Student Registration
Get off to a Strong Start at SFC
Once all necessary admissions steps are completed, The Hub registers all incoming undergraduate students to SFC. This includes incoming first-year students and transfers, as well as students returning to SFC to finish their studies. All incoming students meet with advisors and/or complete a course questionnaire before the semester starts to confirm their course preferences, skills assessment scores, and previous coursework (if applicable). First-year students are then pre-registered for classes that are customized to meet the needs of their degree and receive their first-semester registration digitally for review prior to attending new-student orientation. At orientation, first-year students will then meet with advisors in small groups to review their courses in more detail and answer questions. Transfer and readmitting students meet with advisors to register one-on-one and receive an in-depth review of prior coursework, including transfer credits, before building a schedule within The Hub.
