School Group Criteria Recommended Grades: 6 - 12 Group Size: 20 - 120 per time slot Chaperones: 1 chaperone per 10 students. Field Trip Ticket Pricing Student cost: $10/student ($5/Title I) Chaperones: One complimentary chaperone ticket for every 10 students. Additional visitors will be charged at the field trip admission rate. Pre-Paid Lunches: Boxed lunches are available for pre-purchase through our 1861 Café. Note that there is no on-site storage available. Exceptions may be made for medical devices, which should be accommodated accordingly. CELL-PHONE POLICY Unless otherwise directed, keep cellphones silent and out of sight during your visit. School policies may apply while on the National Medal of Honor Museum campus. FOOD POLICY No food or beverage is allowed inside the Museum. All items must be left on the bus, but they may be retrieved once the tour is over for an outdoor lunch on the terrace or the amphitheater, weather permitting. If your group has pre-paid for boxed lunches they may be picked up after the tour. To make the most of your visit, please remember these five simple rules: HANDS DOWN Let your eyes do the exploring! Unless invited to interact, keep hands off walls, glass, panels, and exhibits. EARS OPEN The Museum is a shared space—listen carefully to your Exhibit Attendant and those around you. What you hear may surprise you! VOICES LOW Use your inside voice so you can hear instructions and help others enjoy the Museum. FEET STEADY This is a walk through history, not a race through time. Stay with your group to take it all in. EYES UP Keep personal electronics out of sight and reach. Stay present and make the most of your visit! Reminder: Failure to follow these guidelines may result in being removed from the field trip experience. Chaperones play a vital role in ensuring students have a safe, meaningful, and respectful visit to the National Medal of Honor Museum. Here is how you’ll help set the tone for engagement and learning. Keep your group together. Chaperones are responsible for up to ten students, who must stay with their group at all times—on both the ground floor and the exhibit deck. Encourage participation. Ask questions, engage with exhibits, and model curiosity to create a more interactive experience. Lead by example. Students will follow your lead! Stay off your phone, actively listen, and engage with both students and Exhibit Attendants to enhance the visit for everyone. Monitor behavior. Reinforce Museum Manners, ensure students respect the space and other visitors, and remind them of the consequences of not following guidelines. Encourage students to be mindful that the Museum is a place of honor, where they may be in the presence of veterans, Medal of Honor Recipients, or the families of those whose stories are shared here. Manage restroom breaks. Scheduled breaks occur before and after the visit. If a student needs to go during the tour, accompany them and return promptly. Work with other chaperones as needed. Your presence and participation make a huge difference—thank you for helping create a powerful and inspiring experience for every student!
