Historical Society Seeks Book Cart
The Lenawee Historical Society accepts donations of used and antiquarian books. Books related to Lenawee County history are retained in its collection for access by the public. These typically include plat books, atlases, school yearbooks, books about events in the county, biographies of historically significant county residents or businesses, and books written by local authors. In addition, the Society receives donations of used or antiquarian books that are either unrelated to county history or that duplicate books already in the collection. These are often sold to raise funds for the operation of the museum.
The Society currently has dozens of books for sale and is looking for a library-style book cart on which to stock and display them for bibliophiles in search of such books. The donation of a new or used book cart, or funds to be used toward the purchase such a cart, would be greatly appreciated.

Honoring Patriots of the American Revolution
On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. While the momentous events of the Revolutionary War and the foundational preparations leading up to the establishment of our American Constitutional Republic occurred primarily along the Eastern Seaboard, our own Lenawee County has a Revolutionary War connection, in that several veterans of the conflict are buried here.

The Lenawee County Family Researchers (LCFR), our local genealogical society, in collaboration with the local Lucy Wolcott Barnum Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), are formulating plans to honor all American patriots buried in Lenawee County cemeteries and are soliciting the community’s assistance in patriot identification. Patriots may include not only any military veterans not already on the established list, but also non-military individuals who played a role on the Colonial side during the conflict for American independence, such as wives of veterans, pro-independence clergymen, colonial politicians, and those who supplied provisions to support the war effort, for instance.
Anyone having knowledge of such Revolutionary War patriots buried here locally is requested to please contact LCFR Secretary Julia Klink at Phone 517-436-3435 / E-mail jklink@sandcreektelco.com with pertinent details, such as the patriot’s name, type of service to the American cause, and their cemetery burial location, with a cutoff deadline for incoming information of February 2026. Any such community assistance rendered will be sincerely appreciated.
