Accessibility and Affordability
Your web browser does not support the <video> tag.
When we first started the Linsly Admissions process, we were asking 'How can we afford this for our children.' After visiting the school and meeting with faculty and administration, we changed our thought process to 'How can we not afford this for our children.' The value at Linsly lies in the relationships forged on a daily basis and the exposure to classmates from all over the world.
- Joe Giovengo, Linsly parent
We encourage all families interested in The Linsly School education to apply for admission. Indexed Tuition customizes tuition according to each family’s financial ability to contribute to their educational expenses, enabling families from a variety of economic backgrounds to join our community.
Indexed Tuition is essential to our mission of celebrating diversity and responding to the needs and challenges of our time. Not only does it increase socioeconomic diversity, but it also strengthens our school’s long-term sustainability and reflects our commitment to maintaining an inclusive community.
Please consider the following when applying for Indexed Linsly School Tuition:
Conversations with families regarding tuition and affordability are managed with respect and confidentiality.
Families must re-apply for Indexed Tuition each year. However, the index only shifts when there is a material change in a family’s ability to pay.
Tuition at the top of the index does not cover the actual cost of a The Linsly School education, so every student’s tuition is indexed to some degree.
For a list of tuition and fees by grade, refer to the
Tuition Overview
section on this page.

Will applying for Indexed Tuition affect my child's chances for admission?
The Linsly School maintains a philosophy that requires active participation of a student's family in funding this educational opportunity. In instances where parents are separated or divorced, the School requires both parents to contribute to the cost of their child’s education and submit the Clarity application. The School will not be bound by the statement that one parent has waived responsibility for educational expenses. If either parent has remarried, all financial information about the current spouse is to be included in the application.
Yes. International families applying for Indexed Tuition (financial aid), who have never filed taxes in the United States, should complete the
Clarity
application. If you have filed taxes in the US, you will be asked to complete Form 4506C when you start the Clarity application.
If affordability becomes a challenge due to a change of circumstances, we encourage families to apply for Indexed Tuition.
No. Only families who wish to be considered to pay below the top of the Index (full tuition) need to submit an application.
Tuition determinations are made by a family's entire financial profile, not solely income, and are assessed by the The Linsly School Financial Aid Committee via Clarity.
When applying for indexed tuition, parents must complete and submit the
Clarity
application. Expected contributions are then determined through a methodology developed by Clarity, which takes into consideration a family’s gross taxable and non-taxable income, assets, liabilities, unusual expenses, family size, and the number of students in tuition-charging schools or colleges. After allowances for basic necessities and taxes, a portion of the remaining funds are considered available for education.
Admission decisions and Indexed Tuition decisions are made separately. Despite The Linsly School’s generous resources that fund Indexed Tuition, there is still a greater collective need than our funds can support. Keeping this in mind, families are encouraged to apply for Indexed Tuition only after exploring other possible means of meeting educational expenses.

The Linsly School Financial Aid and Named Scholarship program is designed to make a Linsly education possible for all families based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. The Linsly School is proud to use the
Clarity Application
to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts.
The Linsly School does not offer any athletic or arts scholarships. We do value these extracurricular activities and they will be considered when applying to Linsly.
The Linsly School does have an extensive Named Scholarship Program. Many of these scholarships will have different requirements based on the donor. We encourage you to review these scholarships. All Named Scholarships are awarded to new, incoming students.
The Linsly School works with many different scenarios. If an applicant’s parents are separated or divorced, both custodial parents need to complete the Clarity Financial Aid Application. In addition, if an applicant’s parent is remarried, the step-parent’s information should be included in the Clarity Financial Aid Application.
The Clarity Financial Aid Application allows our Linsly families to complete one application for their entire family.
The Linsly School uses Clarity to store all financial information. Only the members of the financial aid committee have access to this information.
When completing the Clarity Financial Aid Application, they will request access to your previous year tax information or the current year information. We know some families will not have their current year information completed by January 1. In these cases, please contact the Admissions Office.
Every year, families will need to reapply for financial aid. At the Linsly School, we work hard to understand every family's situation. Much of the time, financial aid awards remain the same unless there is a significant change in a family's financial situation. Linsly's tuition is subject to increase each year.

Did you know that Linsly accepts the
West Virginia Hope Scholarship
That’s right—a private, college-prep education at Linsly may be more affordable than you think.
If your child is eligible for the Hope Scholarship, you could receive up to $4,900 annually to help fund Linsly School tuition, where students receive personalized attention, 100% college placement, and opportunities that go far beyond the classroom.
Linsly is a community where everyone takes the time to help student tap into their individual potential, both in and out of the classroom. The teachers genuinely care for the students, and our son's successes have been reflected in his honors reports. I can't say enough about the return on investment we have seen in five years at Linsly.

For the 2026–2027 school year, Linsly is reducing its published tuition rates as part of a broader effort to make a Linsly education more accessible to families across the Ohio Valley and beyond. Tuition reflects two distinct educational pathways, day and boarding, each designed to meet the needs of different students and families.
Day Student Tuition
Boarding Student Tuition
Day tuition applies to students who commute to campus and participate fully in Linsly’s academic, athletic, and co-curricular programs. Extra costs should be expected for uniform, textbooks, a computer, travel experiences/field trips, and lunch or food expenses.
Middle School Day Tuition: $15,000
Upper School Day Tuition: $17,000
Boarding tuition applies to students who live on campus and includes the academic program
as well as
Linsly’s comprehensive residential experience.
Boarding tuition includes on-campus housing and all meals (an allowance is provided for lunch); 24/7 residential supervision and student support; evening study halls and structured residential programming; weekend activities, enrichment, and community life (some weekend activities do initiate and require fees); and full participation in Linsly’s academic and co-curricular programs. Extra costs should be expected for uniform, textbooks, special transportation, medical insurance (international students), a computer, travel experiences/field trips, and outside food expenses.
Middle School Boarding Tuition: $55,000
Upper School Boarding Tuition: $57,000
