About Education Department
Department of Education, Kumaun University is an excellent center of integrated development of teacher training in Uttarakhand. Department established in 1952 AD by honorable late Sri Amba Dutt Pant ji. In 1952 B.T. class started in this institution. In 1976 M.Ed. class started. Teacher teaches students by innovative methods of teaching. They use audio-visual aids in teaching i.e. OHP, smart board, chart, projector, LCD etc. There is a rich library, technology lab, psychology lab language lab and reading room.
Teacher trainers get theoretical and practical training here. They get theoretical knowledge of phiosophical and sociological foundation of education, knowledge of child psychology, development of education system in India, educational technology and management, environment education, value education, mental measurement, educational administration and knowledge of teaching met...

Courses Offered:
Integrated Teacher Education programme is an initiative in the field of teacher education introduced by National Council for Teacher Education. The ITEP is being offered in pilot mode initially in reputed Central/State Government Universities/Institutions and Kumaun University Nainital is one of them.
All students who voluntarily decide to pursue a career in teaching after completing their secondary education can enroll in the Integrated Teacher Education Programme.This integrated course will benefit students since they will save one year by finishing the course in 4 years rather than the customary 5 years required by the present B.Ed. plan. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will administer the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) to ascertain eligibility for the same.

About the Head
Dr. Ashok Upreti (M.Sc., M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Education at Kumaun University, Nainital, with over 11 years of experience in Teacher Education. He holds Master's degrees in Botany, Chemistry, Psychology, English, Education, and Sociology, and has qualified UGC NET and U-SET in Education. Dr. Upreti specializes in Educational Technology, Inclusive Education, and Pedagogy of Science & English.
He has presented at numerous International and National seminars and published research in UGC CARE-listed journals. Dr. Upreti has contributed to educational programs by All India Radio, DIETs, and various universities, and serves as an Academic Counselor for IGNOU and UOU. In 2022, he received a National Award for his contributions to Education, Literature, and Social Work. Dr. Upreti is also a motivational speaker on career guidance in scientific education and research.
